This industry section had been predominately satisfied with white colorations, however, in the past six years, darker colors now comprise over 65% of the color palette. Penn Color has been instrumental in providing the "state-of-the-art" concentrates with high pigment loadings to enable the lowest letdown ratios, i.e., concentrate to polymer compound to achieve desired color. In addition, now that darker colors are demanded, PVC capstock compound is being challenged by other more weatherable ASA and acrylic compounds being introduced. Penn Color has been in the forefront of this "revolution" and has developed a myriad of colors in all polymer systems to comply to the new Vinyl Siding Institute Certification Program.

It should be mentioned that with the higher pigment loadings now in vogue, it is imperative that the polymer carrier system is formulated to achieve low melt flow to prevent panel surface imperfections.

Just for the record, to-date, Penn Color has supplied over 500 pre-colored color concentrates to answer the requirements of the vinyl siding producers. Since weatherability, low heat build properties, etc. are demanded, Penn Color directs our color formulations to contain the best pigments for this market, namely CICP and other high quality pigmentation.

Lastly, since the color control tolerances are extremely demanding, there is a focus on quality throughout the manufacturing process to meet the industry standards.
